Eric G. Foster, 69, of Mathews, passed away on Aug. 23, 2026.

His parents, Lottie Ruth Foster Smith and John Eddie Smith of Port Haywood, preceded him in death. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Susan, and a 1975 graduate of Mathews High School. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University from 1975-1978.

He retired from Walmart Neighborhood Market, Williamsburg, and had held several positions as a cook at local restaurants in Mathews, Gloucester and Williamsburg.

Survivors include his cousins.

Viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, 7437 Buckley Hall Road, Cobbs Creek. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Antioch Baptist Church.
