Betty Paige Coates, age 94, of Hayes, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. She was born on June 19, 1932 to Thomas “Eddie” and Mattie Belvin King. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a Postmaster Relief. She was a devoted member of Union Baptist Church and an avid cat lover. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Mitchem and her husband Rusty; grandchildren, James Mitchem and Angela Smith (husband Corey), and great-grandchildren, Mattie Smith, Emory Smith, and Avery Mitchem. On Friday, July 3, 2026, the family received friends from 10:30-11:15 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:30 at Union Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rodney Autrey and Pastor Mike Lawhorn. The interment followed at Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A reception was held back in the church social hall.
