The Fairfield Foundation will host its ninth annual Historic House Party at Exchange in Gloucester on Saturday, Oct. 12.Fairfield holds the party annually to celebrate the accomplishments of the year and to raise funds for a new project, a release stated. This June, the Richmond-based Cabell Foundation awarded Fairfield a $100,000 matching grant to restabilize the Rosewell Ruins. All money raised during the House Party will support this grant. Tickets are sold individually at $75 apiece. The Fairfield Foundation’s major projects include archaeological outreach at the Burwell plantation known as Fairfield/Carter’s Creek, restoration and repurposing at Timberneck House at Machicomoco State Park, preservation of the Walter Reed Birthplace, preservation and tours at the Rosewell Ruins and Visitor Center, and interpretation of the restored 1930s Edgehill Service Station, which serves as its headquarters.
