50+ vendors to take part in Market Days

More than 50 vendors are expected for this weekend’s 44th annual Mathews Market Days celebration in and around the county’s historic court circle. This year’s event will include more entertainment, and will provide $8,000 in grants to various organizations that work toward the betterment of Mathews County.

The festival will be held Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Opening ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Roads around the historic court green closed at midnight and will remain closed through the end of the event. Streets impacted by the closure include Brickbat Road, Church and Court streets.

Sink the Boat

Dee Russell, vice chair of the Mathews Market Days Committee, said one of the new things this year the committee has been proud of is its “Sink the Boat” initiative.
