The Guinea Heritage Association is canceling all of its fall events, including its popular fall festival, the Guinea Jubilee, GHA board member Ginny Snowden announced this week.
The 41st annual Guinea Jubilee, which had been planned for Sept. 25 and 26, was put off this year over concerns amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“The Guinea Jubilee has always been our signature community happening and it was the beginning of where we are today,” Snowden said. “This was not an easy decision but everyone felt that the safety of our neighbors and friends had to be the main focus, so following many other groups in the area there will be no 2020 Guinea Jubilee.”
Events leading up to the Guinea Jubilee, such as the student art contest, print and photography contest and the Guinea Heritage Day celebration, were also canceled this year.
“We are sad and continue to look for safe, smaller options to allow us to gather as a community,” Snowden said.
