20 boats compete in West Memorial Spot Tournament

The fifth annual Amos G. West Memorial Spot Fish Tournament was held on Saturday, Sept. 24, with winners recognized at the Lockwood’s Carpets warehouse, Gloucester.

Over the past five years, the tournament has provided more than $60,000 in scholarships to Gloucester High School seniors. The annual tournament is held each September and its largest sponsors are Lockwood’s Carpets and Deltaville Market.

This year, 20 boats competed and the grand-prize winner was Toby Calloway. Lynn Honesty won the women’s prize with her catch. Severn Wharf Custom Rods also custom made six fishing rods that were raffled off. Oak Tree Outfitters donated a HOODOO Element 100S Sit on Top Kayak.

This year’s high school recipients were Tripp Roady, Amari Marsh, Jaidyn Forrest, Charlotte Buswell, Madison Graham, Devonte Garcia and Grace Sigley. Each received $2,000.

“We are excited that we have raised over $20,000 this year and look forward to the GHS Class of 2023,” said Kris-tee W. Georgiou.
