The Middlesex Shooting and Sports Club in Hartfield is sponsoring a NRA Women On Target event, which will be held today, Thursday, March 21, and Saturday, March 23.

The program, developed by the National Rifle Association, is offered all over the country, but the Hartfield club is the only facility that offers the program on the Middle Peninsula.

The program starts at 12:30 p.m. today and at 9 a.m. Saturday. Participants are welcomed to complete in the Women on Target program and earn the title of “Distinguished Expert” in pistol firing. WOT is offered the fourth Thursday and Saturday from March to October.

Instructors are women teaching women; the class is designed to encourage, educate, and mentor women’s responsible participation in the recreational shooting sports. Participants in the class may bring their own firearms, and if someone doesn’t own a firearm or other needed equipment, the club will make available the equipment needed.
