The 16th annual L. Wayne Hudgins Memorial Wharf to Wharf Swim will be held on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Williams Wharf Landing.
The open-water swim of nearly one mile takes swimmers from Williams Wharf, across East River to Hicks Wharf, and back to the starting point. It will start at 1 p.m.
The swim is a benefit for the Mathews Land Conservancy, and is named for Wayne Hudgins, an early and strong supporter of the conservancy’s efforts to create a center for non-motorized watercraft at Williams Wharf.
Swimmers agree to obtain sponsors. Spectators are welcome, and food trucks, music and other attractions are planned. For more information, call 804-725-9685 or email info@mathewslandconservancy.org.
