Walkers needed for attempt to break cakewalk record

Gloucester County is trying to set a record on Saturday, May 13, for the largest cakewalk as a way to raise money for a new handicapped accessible playground for Woodville Park.

More than 100 cakes are being donated for the event. The pre-registration rate of $10 for individuals and $25 for families of any size has been extended through the morning of the event.

Registration forms can be found at several businesses along Main Street with posters noting they are accepting registration. Forms are also available at the Parks, Recreation and Tourism office, Beaverdam Park, the Visitor’s Center, and online at www.gloucesterparks.org.

Main Street will be closed for the event around the Court Circle and traffic detoured from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parking for the event will be available behind the county office buildings and along Main Street, outside of the detour area.
