Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk with Ease program May 8 through July 14 at the Stewart Building.
PRT won a grant from the National Recreation and Parks Association to have two instructors trained. This six-week program was written specifically for those with arthritis but is a great resource for anyone.
The group will meet two times per week for an hour. Sessions include an informational element, stretching, walking and stretching. Wear comfy shoes and dress for the weather. The class meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9-10 a.m. The fee is $55, which includes the WWE Book and the deadline to register is May 1.
FREE FLOW YOGA: Gloucester PRT will hold Free Flow Yoga on Tuesdays in May from 5:30-6:45 p.m. at Beaverdam Park’s Whitcomb Lodge. The fee is $40 for the whole month or $9 per day; the deadline to register is Tuesday.
ZUMBA: Zumba classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays in May (skip May 29) from 6:45-7:45 p.m. at Abingdon Elementary. The fee is $8 per day if you sign up for the whole month or $9 per day for individual days. The deadline to register is April 26.
HUG A TREE: The Hug a Tree and Survive Program for ages 7 to 11 will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 5 at Whitcomb Lodge. The program is free but pre-registration is required; the deadline is April 28.
PARK AFTER DARK: Beaverdam Park will host Park After Dark from 8-11 p.m. on Friday, May 5 at the park’s main entrance. Participate in fishing, boating or hiking after hours. All activities require head lamps. The fee is $5 and all rental fees apply. The registration deadline is April 28.
THE FULL HIKE: The Full Hike (9.5 miles), from one end of a Beaverdam Park trail to the other, will be held on Saturday, May 6, beginning at 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring water and snacks, wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. The registration fee is $5 and the deadline to register is April 29.
