Voters encouraged to prepare early for Nov. 3 election

Local voter registrars are encouraging residents to be prepared early with what they will need before arriving at the polls to cast their ballot in the Nov. 3 general election. Absentee voting will be available beginning Sept. 18 and the last day to get registered to vote is Oct. 13.

As of July 1, Gloucester registrar Bobbi Morgan said voter cards are no longer issued, as they became obsolete when a photo ID became required. “Voter cards have been replaced with a voter information notice,” Morgan said.

For those in need of voter registration, it can be printed off by visiting www.vote.virginia.gov/search. She said this will provide the voter with the proof he or she is registered to vote and his or her physical address. It will also show ID requirements, voting location, district information, the ballot, absentee ballot status, voter history and local electoral board information.
