Genealogist Karen M. Skelton will speak at a virtual meeting of the Middle Peninsula African-American Genealogical and Historical Society at 11 a.m. Saturday. Skelton will offer a presentation on how to use FamilySearch’s Research Wiki to learn what records were created for a specific location: What years do they cover? Are there gaps in the coverage? Are they digitized, or do they require a visit in person—and if so, where? Skelton has been active in the world of genealogy and social history for 15 years, the release said. She specialized in Irish records research for a number of years. After moving to North Carolina in 2020, she found a way to combine her passions of social and racial justice with genealogy and history by working in the area of reparative genealogy, the release said.
