VIMS to hold Discovery Lab program on seagrasses

The College of William and Mary’s Batten School and Virginia Institute of Marine Science has announced a number of upcoming programs for March. A Discovery Lab on seagrasses will be held on Tuesday, March 17, from 6-8 p.m. in the Catlett-Burruss Research and Education Lab. Through hands-on activities and simple demonstrations, participants will learn how these underwater plants help protect coastlines, support ocean life and provide essential habitat. Charlotte Henderson, a graduate student at UNC Wilmington and NOAA/NERRS Margaret A. Davidson Fellow, will share her research on how these important grasses withstand and recover from warming waters and how people can actively restore meadows to support a healthy ocean and coastline.
