Gloucester County is working with the Virginia Department of Transportation, seeking public comment on two highway areas for potential improvement. Comments are due through online surveys by Wednesday, May 21.
An online survey asks for thoughts on Route 17 from McFadden Way/Hospital Drive to Belroi Road, and Route 17 Business, Main Street, between Route 17 and Justice Drive.
Another study area is the southern end of Route 17 in Gloucester from Featherbed Lane to Guinea Road.
The surveys can be found at the website vaprojectpipeline.va.gov, by clicking on Fredericksburg District. Each study seeks to develop potential recommendations to improve safety, operations, access, and bicyclist and pedestrian features in the targeted areas, VDOT said.
Studies should be completed by mid-2026, with no dates set for construction.
Comments can also be mailed to Rachel Inman, Virginia Department of Transportation, 87 Deacon Road, Fredericksburg, Va. 22405.
