VDOT names new Fredericksburg District Engineer

The Virginia Department of Transportation has named Greg Henion, P.E., as its new Fredericksburg District Engineer.Henion has more than 32 years of transportation and engineering experience in public and private sector roles. Most recently, he has served since 2022 as the statewide VDOT Structure and Bridge Engineer. He was responsible for the inspection and integrity of more than 21,000 bridges, culverts and other structures across Virginia.
As Fredericksburg District Engineer, Henion will lead the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations of more than 12,000 road miles across 14 counties.
VDOT’s Fredericksburg District includes the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford in the Fredericksburg area; Northumberland, Richmond, Lancaster and Westmoreland counties in the Northern Neck; and Essex, Gloucester, King and Queen, King William, Mathews and Middlesex counties in the Middle Peninsula.
