The Virginia Department of Transportation will begin soon replacement of the existing northbound Route 17 bridge over Dragon Run.
According to the VDOT website, construction on the $19.2 million project will get underway in January. It is slated to continue for two years, with anticipated completion in January 2028.
During its reconstruction the bridge will be closed, and northbound traffic diverted to cross the Route 17 southbound bridge; the bridge will carry single north- and southbound traffic lanes for the duration of the construction work.
VDOT said it is replacing the existing bridge to improve the condition of the northbound Dragon Run crossing. The new bridge will be raised to an elevation similar to the Route 17 southbound bridge over Dragon Run. ...
