Marlie Avant, a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Rappahannock, will lead the Sept. 21 service at the White Stone church, with a talk called, “Gravity, Grit and Grace: The Art of Aging Consciously.”
A Cobbs Creek resident with her husband Roy, Avant is being considered by UUFR’s membership to become its interim lay pastor. The congregation is expected to vote on her candidacy later this fall.
“We will explore how aging can be a vibrant, intentional journey—where the body may change, but the mind remains youthful and resilient,” Avant said of her upcoming talk. “Through stories and practical wisdom, we will discover how conscious aging lets us meet life’s gravity with grit and grace.
