U12 Stingrays win doubleheader

The Baystar U12 Stingrays youth soccer team played a doubleheader at home on Saturday in the oppressive heat at Woodville Park.

The first game was against the VA Reign Black with Stingrays taking the win, 3-1. Goals scored by Ellis O’Mara, Louisa Doley and Braylin Brochu. Louisa Doley and Brooklyn Robinette provided the assists.

Solid goalkeeping pro-vided second half of game by Piper Codekas, with a powerful defensive line keeping Reign scoreless in the second half.

In the second game against Arsenal FC, the Stingrays shut them out, 3-0. Goals scored by Robinette, Charlie Sheridan and Brochu. There were two assists by O’Mara and one from Doley.

Contributions from the midfield and back line gave offense the chances they needed to pressure consistently throughout the games.

The Stingrays will play again on Saturday at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex at 12:30 p.m.

Rockfish

The Baystar U19 Rockfish won its game on Saturday over the Tidewater Sharks.

In the first half, Gavin Blanks scored the first goal with an assist by Gavin Seitz. Tidewater Sharks then received a penalty kick and scored, leaving the first half 1-1.

In the second half of the game Jessie Manheim scored one goal and then Blanks followed up with another goal with an assist made by Ashton Williams.

Baystars Rockfish won the game with three goals to Tidewater Sharks’ one.

Wahoos

The Baystars U10 Wahoos dominated VA Rush, securing a 5-0 shutout.

Defenders Isabel Alder-man and Reagan Hartman provided a solid backline support, while Parker Chambers held down the goal in the first half. Elena Schwartz took over in the second half. Schwartz opened the scoring with the first goal, followed by Sofia Spearman and Cecilia Andrews adding to the tally.

In the second match, Wahoo faced a tough opponent against Chesapeake Soccer Club, resulting in a 2-2 draw.
Hartman started in goal, allowing one goal to pass through, while Schwartz protected the net in the second half, conceding just one goal as well. Alderman struck early, scoring both of the Wahoo goals.

Midfielders Shayla Wezensky, Ava Payne and Phinley Chambers provided strong support on both offense and defense, helping keep the game competitive.

Wahoos displayed strong teamwork and resilience throughout the doubleheader and look forward to building on this performance.
