Traffic light at Rt. 17 and Brays Point to be installed

VDOT crews will be installing traffic signal equipment on Rt. 17 at the intersection with Brays Point Road on the evenings of Sunday, Feb. 9 and Monday, Feb. 10.
Travelers on Route 17 in Gloucester can expect brief delays in that area during those periods, as there will be single lane closures at the intersection between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., said a press release from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
A new traffic signal pole will be installed along the southbound lane, said the release. The previous pole was removed in December after it was struck and damaged by an armored vehicle.
Once the work is complete, Brays Point Road traffic will be able to turn left onto Route 17 southbound, said the release, adding that an average of 27,216 vehicles travel through the Route 17 and Brays Point Road intersection each day.
