The Peninsula Track Club will sponsor the Timberneck 5K and One-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, June 22, at Machicomoco State Park in Hayes.

The 5K begins at 8:30 a.m. and features competitive categories for both running and walking. The cost is $25 if registration is received or postmarked before June 3. Registration does not include the park admission fee of $5.

Late and race-day registrations are also available.

The fun run begins at 8 a.m. and is free and open to all ages (pre-registration is required). Proceeds from the race will go to the Fairfield Foundation for the restoration of the Timberneck House, located within the park.

The course is a flat, 3.1-mile loop at the park. For this race, walkers will have their own awards category, and awards for the 5K will be given to the top three finishers in each age group. Volunteer opportunities are available for those interested in helping with the race.
