Three wetland projects approved in Gloucester

In its first meeting of the new year, the Gloucester County Wetlands Board approved three shoreline improvement project applications.

During the Jan. 11 meeting in the Courthouse Office Building, the board approved requests from homeowners Winthrop Welch and Daniel Ray.

Welch’s application was to remove a failing vinyl bulkhead and construct 210-feet of class 1 rock revetment on Three Mile Lane. The request was approved 6-0 as submitted with payment into the Gloucester Wetland Bank In-Lieu fund, with board member Norman Sibley abstaining from the vote due to prior involvement with the project.

Ray of Ware River Drive sought authorization to replace an existing bulkhead and to then install 30-foot oyster bag sills and 30-cubic-yards of sand nourishment behind the sill. The request was unanimously approved.
