Festivals, celebrations planned for September

A busy season of festivals and celebrations is being planned in all parts of Gloucester and Mathews for weekends in September. Gloucester County’s 375th The month opens with activities to mark Gloucester County’s 375th birthday anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 5. The area on and around Main Street and the Historic Courthouse Area will be the center of activities of “Gloucester’s biggest ever community block party,” according to county organizers. Musical stages, living history demonstrations, artisan and craft vendors, food trucks, and activities for children and families are planned. Sept. 5 happens to be Gloucester Day around the world, a day celebrated by places around the world named Gloucester. Gloucester, Virginia, will be the special honoree in view of its big anniversary.
