The language of dance

Kindergarteners through fourth graders at Lancaster Elementary School joined dancers from the Latin Ballet of Virginia for instruction on Feb. 9 following the troupe’s production of Alma Latina, a celebration of the Native, African and Spanish roots of Hispanic culture. The event was part of the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts’ Arts for Youth Program, which continues May 1 with juggler Geoffrey Marsh. RFA received local grants from The River Counties Community Foundation, the Tidewater Foundation, and the Mason & Lulu Cole Trust Fund, in addition to support from the Virginia Commission for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts to hold these school performances.
