Strings & Things quartet to perform in Urbanna

A program titled “The Melodious Mystery of Math in Music” will be presented by a string quartet from the local Strings & Things network of musicians at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2.
The performance will be held at Urbanna Baptist Church and is open to the public. The quartet will demonstrate the ways that numerical concepts like intervals, rhythms, and more, play an important part in the music we love listening to, a release stated.
The concert will include a mix of classical, pop, ballads and jazz; all with a mathematical twist. Strings & Things is a network of between 20 and 25 professionally trained musicians in coastal and central Virginia.
Members of the group typically play for weddings, receptions, parties and performances in duet, trio, or quartet combinations. The membership represents a variety of instrumentation, including violin, viola, cello, flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpet, and keyboard.
