Southern hospitality shines in modern Atlanta

Just as Scarlett O’Hara found Atlanta the place to be 150 years ago, it is still The City to be in. The Southern hospitality of those days has not faded; it’s greater than ever. And the food has improved way beyond what Scarlett ever experienced.

This writer recently had the privilege of enjoying what Atlanta has to offer in today’s world.

At the home of Joanne Smith, senior vice president of In-Flight Services for Delta Air Lines, the definition of southern hospitality came alive. Scarlett’s Aunt Pittypat would have loved to be there.

A native of California who has traveled from coast to coast, Joanne has been settled in Atlanta with Delta Air Lines for the past 12 years. Her husband passed away five years ago, and with her two daughters away at school, Joanne likes to entertain in what could be considered small groups. “I love to cook.
