It’s that time again when the cake ladies and gentlemen have been mixing, stirring and baking cakes for the annual Guinea Heritage Association cake sale. The event will be held at Buck’s Store Museum in Bena this Saturday, Sept. 12, as a lead-up to the Guinea Jubilee on Sept. 25 and 26. Those with a sweet tooth can have it sated immediately by pulling out their wallets and purchasing a cake. Most cakes will be sold whole, but half cakes and slices will also be offered. For years the Guinea Heritage Association held a cake silent auction on a day before the Jubilee. Last year’s sale of cakes, held on the new times, proved very successful, netting $1,700. The addition of cinnamon rolls added to the good day. The organizing committee is hoping for even better results this year.
