Signs of the times

The response to COVID-19 can be seen all around the area. Clockwise from top left: The vacant marquee of York River Crossing Cinema looks like something out of a movie. No films are being shown to help prevent large gatherings and the spread of the virus. One of the few places that were still busy on Tuesday were grocery stores, like Kroger at Hayes, shown in the midst of an afternoon rush. Many restaurants are experimenting with take-out and delivery services, but fast-food chains, like Wendy’s are switching to drive-thru only. Like most churches in the area, Bethany United Methodist Church has cancelled all of its services through March 29, hoping to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in its congregation.
