Rachel Machie was recently inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society at Virginia Tech. She is the daughter of Denny and Harriet Machie of Hayes and the granddaughter of Murray and Betty Brown and the late Chester and Shizu Machie. She will be a senior in the fall, majoring in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry.

Nyasia Marie Spriggs, Mathews High School Class of 2019, graduated from Christopher Newport University on May 13. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in business. She is the daughter of Candace Jarvis and Edwin G. Spriggs of Cardinal and is the granddaughter of Ann Jarvis of Cardinal and Bobby and Pat Jarvis of Gloucester.
