The Gloucester School Board made several personnel appointments at its monthly meeting, held on April 11 in the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium.
Sandra Wade of Gloucester was appointed to a paraprofessional position at Petsworth Elementary School, effective March 23; Casey McCaffrey of Gloucester was appointed to an administrative associate position at Gloucester High School, effective March 27; Kelseay Crowley of Gloucester was appointed to a paraprofessional position at Achilles Elementary School, effective April 1; Brenda Flood-Childress of Newport News was appointed to a bus driver position, effective March 1; Brandon Ford of Gloucester Point was appointed to a custodian position at Page Middle School, effective April 10; Blaine Deckard of Poquoson was appointed to a facilities technician position, effective April 17; and Gregory Armistead of Cobbs Creek was appointed to a facilities technician position, effective April 12.
The school board also made the following substitute appointments:
Leonne Arsenovic, Brian Sadler, Hannah Beth Hogge and Anyah Jones were appointed to substitute teacher positions; Krystal Light and Yara Valenzuela were appointed to substitute bus assistant positions; Valenzuela, Bonnie Lako and Melissa Walker were appointed to substitute cafeteria worker positions; and Lindsey Sheets was appointed to a substitute educational testing position.
Appointments made for the 2023-2024 school year include:
Tiffany Crawford of Williamsburg was appointed to a physical therapist position; Vivian Eccleston of Gloucester was appointed to a speech language pathology assistant position; Angela Nicosia of Gloucester was appointed to a special education position at Page Middle School; Sharnée Roberts of Gloucester was appointed to a grade level position to be determined; Stephanie Slack of White Stone was appointed to a grade level position to be determined at Petsworth; Meghann Wymer of Gloucester was appointed to an elementary teaching position; and L. Jodell Rutter of Susan was appointed to a math teaching position at Peasley Middle School.
The board also made the following reassignments.
Alexis Yarley was reappointed from a paraprofessional I position to a paraprofessional II position at Peasley, effective March 1; Tonya Weaver was reappointed from a special education teacher position at Peasley to a lead special education teacher position at GHS, effective July 1; Susan Andrews was reappointed from assistant principal to principal at Achilles, effective July 1; and Tiffany Busch was reappointed from acting principal at Achilles to principal at Bethel Elementary School, effective July 1.
Reassignments effective for the 2023-2024 school year are as follows.
Noah Crouch was reassigned from a subject area position to a business and information technology teaching position at GHS; Carey Kipper was reappointed from a fourth grade teaching position at Achilles to the same position at Petsworth; Mary Olmstead was reappointed from an eighth grade science teaching position at Page Middle School to a fifth grade teaching position at Achilles; Belinda Scholl was reappointed from a fifth grade teaching position to a fourth grade teaching position at Achilles; and Bernadette Tipton was reassigned from a reading intervention position at Page to a Title I reading specialist position at Petsworth.
The following separations were also accepted.
Darlene Diamond retired from a bus driver position, effective July 1; Megan Grothaus resigned from a school psychologist position, effective July 1; Christy Lindberg resigned from a food service manager position, effective May 31; Patricia Keener retired from a reading specialist position at Petsworth, effective July 1; Rebecca Teagle resigned from a first grade teaching position at Botetourt Elementary School, effective July 1; Anyah Jones resigned from a building level substitute position, effective April 11; Tara Johnson resigned from a paraprofessional position at Abingdon, effective April 22; Nancy Kast resigned from a math teaching position at Peasley, effective July 1; Debra Krahn retired from a math teaching position at Peasley, effective July 1; and Sharon Chura retired from a science teaching position at Peasley, effective July 1.
