SAMUEL THOMAS HUDGINS

Samuel Thomas Hudgins, 70, of Hampton, Va., died Thursday, May 30, 2013.

Born in Newport News, he lived in Mathews for many years before relocating to Fox Hill, Hampton, where he had lived for the last 30 years.

He retired from the Newport News Shipyard in 1999 after 38 years of service. A very active member of Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, he was also a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE Lodge #366, was Elk of the Year in 1973; was a member of St. Tammany Lodge #5 AF & AM; and an avid fisherman and hunter, he was a member of the East River Hunt Club and the Summer House Hunt Club.

Preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Willard Hudgins, and his brother, Leonard Hudgins; survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Carol Hudgins; his sister, Frances Jane Partin and her husband Danny of Petersburg; nieces and nephews, Julie Colegrove and her husband Dana, Daniel Partin, Linda Kokes, Bruce Hudgins, and Leslie Leroy Turner III and his wife Wendy of Gwynn, Va.

A funeral service was conducted on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Wayne C. Moore with interment in Windsor Gardens Cemetery in Mathews.
