Rose Hall Taylor, 73, of Gloucester, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Hall Barnes; stepfather, James Barnes; father, Curtis Hall; sister, Dale Gautreaux, and brothers, Edwin “Tennie” Hall and Jerry Hall.
Rose was a proud member of the Gloucester High School Class of 1970. Many may remember her from decades of service at First Virginia Bank, later BB&T, at the Point. She also dedicated many years as a volunteer EMT with Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
Following her retirement, Rose remained deeply involved in her community through the Ruritan Club, holding several distinguished roles, including Chesapeake District Governor, Zone 4 Lieutenant Governor, and Past President of the Abingdon Ruritan Club. She was also an active volunteer for the biannual Seafood Festival fundraiser, where she brought a unique flair to her booth.
Rose cherished her time with family, especially her grandchildren. She had a passion for cooking and was always eager to try new recipes. After taking baking and cake-decorating classes, she delighted friends and loved ones with beautifully crafted cakes for special occasions. She also enjoyed interior decorating, shopping, thrifting with friends, cruising, and traveling the world.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Taylor; sons, Clint Smith (Jennifer), Travis Smith (Shannon), Corey Smith (Angela); step-daughters, Kelley Henke (Kyle), Heidi Neal (Mark); grandchildren, Mattie and Emory Smith. She is also survived by her brother, Curtis Clements Hall, and dear friends, Yvonne Scales, Karen Hogge, Jenny Kigans, Janet Kyle, and Sylvia Brown.
After a private service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Abingdon Ruritan Club on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 1 p.m.
