ROBERT W. ‘BOBBY’ HUDGINS

Robert W. “Bobby” Hudgins, 93, of Hayes, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017.

Bobby served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army, receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals. After his service in the Army, he worked on the water and lastly worked at Naval Weapons Station, retiring after 31 years.

Bobby was a faithful member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his bounty with many relatives and friends. He also enjoyed his koi fish. Bobby was a wonderful, kind, southern gentleman who will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Hudgins; parents, Roland and Bessie Hudgins; brothers, Roland Jr. and Findley, and sisters, Millie and Winnie.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Hudgins; children, Cheryl Gibson (Fred) and Ronnie Hudgins (Tish); grandchildren, Brady Hudgins, Matthew Hudgins, Zachary Gibson and Sarah App; great-grandchildren, Brianna and Tristan; stepdaughter, Dianne Elie (Edward); step-grandchildren, Sean Fisbein and Lynsey Fisbein; and step-great-grandchildren, Conner and Caroline.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Carol Bookwalter was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Bena. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. 

In memory of Bobby, the family desires contributions be given to Bethlehem U.M. Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 185, Bena, Va. 23018.
