Born on September 15, 1949 in Hammond, Louisiana, Randy was the son of the late John Paul Darouse Sr. and Shirley Mae Darouse. As a child, he moved with his family to Newport News, Virginia, where he grew up and called home for many years.

Randy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, as a member of the 189th Assault Helicopter Company, known as the “Ghost Riders.” Following his honorable discharge, Randy began his civilian career as a sheet metal mechanic. During his years of dedicated federal government service, he advanced to become a model maker, retiring from Fort Eustis after a long and rewarding career.
In retirement, Randy enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and fig trees, fishing, metal-detecting, and listening to oldies music. He especially cherished time spent with his family and making memories together in Nags Head. His greatest joy in life was being surrounded by those he loved. Randy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. He will always be remembered as a man who worked hard, had a generous heart, and loved his family deeply.
