The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the building code at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the historic courthouse on Court Street.
The public hearing will be on a proposed ordinance to address unsafe structures and to adopt Section 106 Part III of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, which is the Virginia Maintenance Code. This code deals with existing structures that are classified as unsafe or unfit for human occupancy. The text of the proposed ordinance was not available by press time.
During the meeting, the board will also hear a special presentation by the Mathews Broadband Advisory Board and will hear a department report from Mathews Commonwealth’s Attorney Tom Bowen.
