Public hearing tonight on Gloucester Point Marina rezoning

The Gloucester County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing in the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium at 6:30 tonight, Thursday, Aug. 7, on a rezoning request that would permit the development of 35 townhouse-style condominium units at Gloucester Point Marina on Sarah’s Creek.
The applicant, Three Sheets Oyster Company, has requested to rezone 5.23 acres along Marina Way (at the end of the Starkey Drive cul-de-sac) from SF-1 (residential single family) to PUD-1 (planned unit development). In addition to the 35 condo units, private boat slips for individual residents are also proposed for the project.
The existing uses for the property include a marine and residential dwelling. Surrounding property uses are all residential along Witts End Lane, Katie Lane, Marina Way and Starkey Drive. To the west of the property is Jordan Marine, Waterfront Development Corp., which also sits along Sarah’s Creek.
