A group of Mathews residents, led by Byron Rauch of Diggs, met on Tuesday, Sept. 13 to discuss Rauch’s plans for opening a private Christian school in Mathews. Approximately 22 parents and grandparents listened to Rauch as he explained to them his vision for the school, the method of instruction and the challenges he faces in making his vision a reality. As envisioned by Rauch, the school will be K-12 (grade levels will be determined by demand) with before- and after-school care provided. Rauch said he does not have a location for the school yet but is aggressively searching and hopes to secure a location within the next few months. The curriculum, he said, will be based on a biblical view and will be “the foundation upon which knowledge, understanding, and wisdom are built, beginning with each school subject,” he stated.
