Planners to hold hearing on self-storage CUP Tuesday

The Mathews County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a request for a conditional use permit for a self-storage facility in Cobbs Creek at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the historic courthouse on Court Street. The applicant, ProSafe Acquisition LLC, and the property owner, OT Ventures LLC, are asking for a CUP to construct a 75,000-square-foot self-storage facility on a portion of the 24-acre parcel where the Dollar General Market is located on Twiggs Ferry Road. Planning commission members discussed the upcoming application during last month’s commission meeting, expressing general approval of the proposal. Commissioner Harry Meeks said the applicants had told him that the site would be paved and the facility would be secure, with fencing and gated access, along with security cameras and lighting.
