Planners, supervisors to meet tonight

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission will have a joint work session at 7 o’clock tonight in the T.C. Walker Education Center cafeteria where they will discuss the potential rezoning of B-4 (B-R, Rural Business) properties at the intersection of Route 17 and Route 33/Glenns Road (Route 198) to the B-1 (B-G, General Business) district.

According to staff documents, “staff feels that a proactive approach to rezoning this area to B-1 (B-G) now would allow for the Planning Commission to provide better recommendations for the B-4 (B-R) Zoning District in the Zoning Ordinance update. Considering the Glenns area differently from the majority of other Rural Service Centers, which are typically located on secondary roads, would allow the Planning Commission and the board to focus on which uses in the B-4 (B-R) district are more in keeping with the character of those rural intersections.”
