Peggy Hudgins to lead this year’s Christmas Parade

Longtime community volunteer Peggy Hudgins will be honored for her many contributions to the county as grand marshal of this year’s Mathews Christmas Parade.

The Mathews Visitor and Information Center will present its annual parade at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, starting at Thomas Hunter Middle School and ending at the Bank of America building. Immediately after the parade, Santa Claus will visit with children at the Visitor Center until 5 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Christmas at Home” and will be a “celebration of all the wonderful people, especially moms, who make Christmas special in our own homes each year,” a release stated.

Hudgins has been active as a community volunteer, community organizer and has worked with Mathews Social Services since the 1980s. Her father served as both a New Hampshire state legislator and as a state senator, so she learned public service at a young age.
