Though the team ended its season after losing by a 51-41 margin to Tabb on Monday, the Page Middle School boys’ basketball team earned a spot in the postseason tournament for the first time in several years.
After achieving a 6-4 record during the regular season, the Eagles played in several games in the postseason tournament. The boys earned their last win on Feb. 9 against the Hornsby Hawks in overtime during the quarterfinal match. The Eagles lost Monday to Tabb, making their overall record for regular and postseason play, 12-5.
“I was very proud of the hard work they put in,” said head coach Nate Mitchell.
Three years ago, Mitchell joined the boys’ basketball program at Page as an assistant coach. That year, the Eagles lost every game they played. The following year, Mitchell took the role of head coach, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team only played five games. Mitchell could see improvement with the team, after winning two games and suffering only three losses.
