On July 8, 2018, Nina Winder Miller, daughter of Rachel Lewis Winder and Ernest Eldridge Winder, went home to be with God.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth Miller Ryan and son-in-law Jason Ryan of Baltimore, Maryland; her son, Eric Miller and daughter-in-law Sara Lyons of Waterford, Michigan, as well as a large and loving circle of family and friends.
Born in Norfolk on Dec. 8, 1937, Nina was a 1955 graduate of Hampton High School and earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from Mary Washington College in 1959.
Nina loved being on the water, especially in Mathews where she visited often with family throughout her life. She was an avid water skier and took every chance she could to glide across Queens Creek in Hallieford where she spent childhood summers with her grandparents, William Penn and Ethel
Lewis.
Nina moved to Baltimore after graduation from college and built a life that included raising a family, pursuing a career in health care administration, earning a graduate degree in management from Notre Dame of Maryland University, traveling the world and creating a network of close relationships with family and friends.
Nina’s effervescent personality, curiosity about the world, faith in God, and tenacious love for people guided her life. She looked for and found beauty in the world, goodness in people and joy in living.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will take place on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at H.C. Smithers Memorial Cemetery in Hudgins, followed by a lunch at the family home in Hallie-
ford.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites contributions to The Family Crisis Center of Baltimore County, P.O. Box 3909, Dundalk, Md. 21222.
