Tony Nicosia has announced his candidacy for the Ware District seat on the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors. Nicosia has lived in the county for 40 years and holds an MBA from Liberty University.
Nicosia teaches economics and personal finance classes at Gloucester High School. His wife Angie is also an instructor, teaching special education at Page Middle School. The two have been married for 13 years and have a son, Conner.
Nicosia said he has two big reasons as to why he is choosing to seek election. The first is to be a needed voice of Gloucester’s disabled community, one that comes from a place of personal understanding and experience.
“I am that voice as I have Cerebral Palsy and am wheelchair bound,” said Nicosia. “Due to my physical disability I understand the current needs of others which should be addressed, at the county level, so that we can continue to make Gloucester County a well-rounded community.”
One of Nicosia’s goals will be to help increase the accessibility of the buildings and businesses in the Ware district. He thinks this could be achieved through the sharing of resources between the EDA and local businesses in the district.
Nicosia’s second reason for running, he said, is because he believes the residents of the Ware District have thoughts, opinions and ideas that need to be brought to the table which will enhance Gloucester County. He wants to be the one to have the honor to speak for his community.
“I pledge to work on behalf of the people of the Ware District, keeping you in mind all the time as I conduct the business of Gloucester County,” said Nicosia.
Nicosia is running as an independent.
