Pets and antique lovers can shop together at the new Lily Valentine Antiques on Main Street, Mathews.
Owner Becky Beckstoffer said that she and her miniature labradoodle (labrador/poodle), for whom the shop is named, want this to be a pet friendly store. A counter even has two jars: one filled with animal treats and the other with candy for human snacks.
While the pets say hi to Lily Valentine, their owners can browse and purchase items, some dating as far back as the 1700s. Many of the items for sale were used on sets of “Turn: Washington’s Spies,” a TV series that ran for four years. Beckstoffer was location manager for that show, helping line up places for various scenes to be filmed.
In addition, some items she has purchased are from the sets of the movie “Loving” and the PBS show “Mercy Street,” she said.
