Arts on Main will feature a Nautical Group Show at its August First Friday, to be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, at the gallery on Main Street in Gloucester. It is free and open to the public.
The seven featured artists are Jason Abbott, Margaret Benton Jones, Al Latorre, Morgan McKinney, Norris Padgett III, Jeff Satterthwaite, and James Timberlake. The show will be on display through Aug. 27.
Abbott is a resident of Tidewater whose paintings range from realism to impressionism, while Benton Jones is a Yorktown artist who paints all subjects, from sailboats to sunflowers, using bright colors and bold brush strokes.
Latorre’s art represents his past, present and any subject he feels drawn to, including Virginia landscapes and seascapes, yielding “pleasing, peaceful scenes we can all relate to,” a release stated.
McKinney is a painter of contemporary impressionism who lives in Richmond and uses bright, vivid, saturated oil colors influenced by his career as a graphic artist.
