Library personnel will have information on how you can make an appointment, but are unable to make appointments. Note that because of very limited availability of counselors this year, returns with itemized deductions (long form) or original returns for tax years prior to 2023 will not be prepared at the Gloucester Library.
Bethany United Methodist Church will take appointments for every Wednesday Feb. 7 – April 10 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Appointments must be made in person by TaxAide volunteers on the dates taxes are prepared. Bring all your tax documents including Social Security Cards when you come to make an appointment. Do not contact church personnel for information or appointments.
Mathews Library will take appointments on Fridays from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Feb. 9, 23 and March 1,15.
Appointments for the Mathews Library can be made online after Jan. 20 at the following website: http://tinyurl.com/Taxaide-Mathews or in person by TaxAide volunteers at Mathews Library when taxes are prepared from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on the days listed above. Library personnel will have information on how you can make an appointment, but are unable to make appointments. Take note that because of very limited availability of counselors this year, returns with itemized deductions (long form) or original returns for tax years prior to 2023 will not be prepared at Mathews Library.
Cryer Center will take appointments for most Wednesdays starting Feb. 7.
It is necessary when you come for your appointment at all locations to bring all your tax documents for 2023, photo IDs (driver’s licenses) for the taxpayer and spouse, Social Security cards for taxpayers listed on the return and dependents, banking information for direct deposit (a blank check is preferable) and last year’s tax return if available. If you have not completed an Input and Interview Form, try to arrive about 15 minutes prior to your appointment to complete the required paperwork.
Depending on volunteer availability and the complexity of your return, TaxAide volunteers will either complete your return in a single face-to-face session on the day of your appointment or by scanning your documents for volunteers to complete at home. If your return is scanned, you will need to return about a week later to sign and finalize your tax return.
For updated information or if you have any questions, leave a message on the Middle Peninsula TaxAide line at 804-654-1407. Do not request appointments on this number.
