The American Red Cross bloodmobile came to Mathews County earlier this month, collecting 52 units at the drive on April 14, held at the Piankatank Ruritan Club building in Hudgins. A total of 51 potential donors showed up—four were deferred for various medical reasons, one was not able to give a sufficient quantity, while six provided double red donations. Donors for the first time in Mathews included Stephanie Donnelly, Daniel Harper and Tracy Harper, with James Chadwell (one gallon), Kevin McGinty (two gallons), Kristin Kiland (four gallons) and Kathryn B.
