The Mathews High School wrestling team took down local rivals Middlesex (72-12) and Lancaster (45-18) in a tri-meet last Wednesday at Middlesex High School. Above, senior Cody Deagle (132 lbs.) dominates his Lancaster opponent. On Saturday, Mathews traveled to Williamsburg, placing 12th out of 34 teams at the highly competitive Ram Rumble at Lafayette High School. The only two MHS wrestlers to place were Deagle (who placed second in his weight class) and freshman Ivan Schiable (inset photo, 144 lbs.), who came in sixth. On Saturday, Mathews travels to Midlothian to compete in a dual meet at Cosby High School.
