MHS track competes at West Point

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ track teams traveled to West Point High School on Tuesday for the two squads’ last regular season meet of the year.

Once again, Nora Suthard won the girls’ 100-meter dash with a time of 13.83 seconds. Suthard also won the girls’ 200 meter in a close finish. Her margin of victory was only 2/100ths of a second. Senior Sarah Taylor had a strong day with wins in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles. Taylor also finished first in the girls’ high jump, followed by Suthard in second.

Keith Taylor won the boys’ 400-meter with a 54.24 second run. Taylor also placed second in the long and triple jump. Donovan Forrest won the 110 hurdles with a strong run. Jordyn Cosby placed fourth in the boys’ shot put and second in the discus.

The girls’ team finished second overall as the boys’ team finished fourth.
