Mathews High School was one of 231 schools named by the Virginia High School League to the VHSL 2022-23 Winter Sportsmanship Honor Roll. The schools recognized had no player or coach ejections or programs placed on warning status.

“We are extremely proud of all the players, coaches, administrators, and fans who worked very hard to make this happen,” said VHSL Executive Director Dr. John W. “Billy” Haun.

“Each school and community should be proud to be on this honor roll. We feel it’s the VHSL’s highest honor. Sportsmanship reflects positively on the individuals, schools, and communities,” said Haun.
