The Mathews High School JV volleyball team traveled to King William last Thursday to face the Lady Cavaliers. After a pair of intense sets, Mathews fell to the Cavs, 2-0. Mathews had plenty of attacks and aces throughout the game. King William started off the first set serving, until Marley Brock got an amazing deep kill, placed perfectly in the corner of the court. Harmony Smith had a great dig and then Vanessa Boyd set it up for Brock to hit. Carter Hayes also had two kills of her own further into the set. Smith served two aces as well. The first set ended 25-14, King William. The second set was just as intense. Although the Lady Cavaliers did win both sets and took the win, the Lady Blue Devils should not have been discouraged because they had some awesome plays. The JV girls travel to Middlesex today to face the Chargers....
